Project Outcome

Advice and Goal

Altibox was the first TV platform to launch EST (Electronic Sell Though or Digital download) in the Nordics in 2015. TVTomorrow negotiated the rights with the Hollywood Studios to ensure that uniquely Altibox was the first EST service to uniquely launch with current movies from all the Major Studios as well as TV series. This enabled Altibox to stand out in a very competitive landscape in Norway and Denmark. Moreover, TVTomorrow negotiated these rights saving the client millions of US$ in licence fees. As another first, these TV series included Homeland, The Americans and the new X-Files 24 hours from US release on EST.

Results

Altibox had over 500,000 EST transactions in Year 1, double the projected figure. These have grown exponentially every year. For TV series Homeland Year 5 generated 15,000 EST transactions alone.

Due to the success of EST on Altibox, TVTomorrow negotiated the Premium EST and Premium VOD deals for Scoob! with Warner Bros and for The Invisible Man, The Hunt and Emma with NBC Universal, which were the first movie titles in the world to be released as the first window on digital bypassing the theatrical release during the Covid-19 lockdown.

More recently, negotiated renewals of all the VOD and EST Hollywood Studio Agreements, eliminating the minimum guarantees and saving substantially in seven figure sums on the license fees.

“Tim was an associated partner with OMG for several years, servicing our customers. He has, through TVTomorrow, provided unparalleled service over the last 8 years in negotiating Hollywood content deals for Altibox. His expertise and network have been hugely significant in increasing the Altibox content offer in launching EST with all of the Hollywood Studios, and bringing global players like HBO Nordic and Amazon Prime Video to the Altibox platform. I can with ease give Tim my warmest recommendation.”
